Don’t worry, you are not alone, and more importantly, there is a straightforward way to set things right—NYSC revalidation.

Revalidation is a process designed specifically for those who were mobilized for NYSC but, for one reason or another, could not start their service year.

In this guide, we will walk you through the steps to apply for NYSC revalidation, we will also cover everything from who needs to apply to the documents you will need and the actual steps involved in the application.

Whether you are feeling a bit lost or just want to make sure you are doing everything right, this guide has got you covered.

What is NYSC Revalidation?

NYSC Revalidation is a process that allows NYSC members (or “corpers”) who were unable to join their designated orientation camp or continue their service year to reactivate their service. Whether you missed camp due to personal reasons, health issues, or any other valid circumstance, revalidation is your way to ensure you still get the NYSC experience.

Revalidation typically occurs when the NYSC portal opens for new registrations. Once the registration portal is on, the revalidation link becomes active for PCMs who were mobilized but couldn’t report to camp in a previous batch.

Who Needs to Revalidate?

You should consider revalidation if:

  • You missed the orientation camp entirely.
  • You withdrawn from the orientation camp.

If any of these situations apply to you, revalidation is what you need to do to get back into the program.

How to Apply for NYSC Revalidation

Applying for NYSC Revalidation is not as complicated as it might seem. Here’s how to go about it:

  1. Start by visiting the official NYSC portal http://portal.nysc.org.ng.
  2. Log in to your dashboard with your email and password. If you’ve forgotten your login details, you can use the “Forgot Password” option to reset them.
  3. Once you are logged in, the system will automatically process your revalidation. You might need to make an additional payment before you can print your call-up letter.

Key Differences Between Revalidation and Remobilization

At first glance, they might seem similar, but they serve different purposes. While both revalidation and remobilization help you continue your NYSC service, they are not the same. Here are the main differences:

  1. Timing of Service Interruption:
    • Revalidation: This applies if you haven’t even started your service year because you missed the orientation camp.
    • Remobilization: This applies if you already began your service year but had to withdraw or stop partway through.
  2. Process and Requirements:
    • Revalidation: The process is straightforward. You log in to the NYSC portal, and reprint your details. It mainly involves confirming your previous details and explaining why you missed the orientation.
    • Remobilization: This process can be a bit more involved. You will need to apply for remobilization through the NYSC portal, but you may also need to provide documentation explaining why you stopped your service. Depending on the situation, you may be required to start from scratch or pick up where you left off.
  3. Impact on Service Year:
    • Revalidation: You get a fresh start, and your service year begins when you report to camp or your PPA.
    • Remobilization: Your service year might be extended depending on how much time you have already served. In some cases, you may need to repeat the entire year.

How to Decide Which One You Need

If you are still unsure which process applies to you, here’s a simple way to figure it out:

  • Did you miss the orientation camp? If yes, you need revalidation.
  • Did you start your service year but had to stop? If yes, you need remobilization.

Common Questions About NYSC Revalidation

Can I apply for revalidation if I miss the deadline?

Unfortunately, no. It is important to apply within the given timeframe to ensure your revalidation is processed.

Will I be posted to the same state for revalidation?

Not necessarily. NYSC may decide to post you to a different state, depending on availability and other factors.

Can I revalidate my NYSC registration into the subsequent stream?

No, you can’t revalidate into the subsequent stream. NYSC will automatically revalidate you into Stream 2, or you’ll have to wait until the next batch to manually revalidate.

Conclusion

Applying for NYSC revalidation doesn’t have to be a stressful process. By following these simple steps and keeping a few key points in mind, you can easily get back into the program and continue your service year.

  1. Hello, good morning. I deferred my posting for B1, and I revalidated for B2, for which I wasn’t posted. I heard there is a new change to the rules that you have to wait for 2 more streams before getting posted again. How true is this?

    • If you deffered for Batch B Stream 1, you can’t go with B2, you will have to wait for C1, you can’t follow any stream. Stream 1 must always follow stream 1
